I just heard about a new resource on DAU’ s Acquisition Community Connection that I’ll pass along here. It’s called ACQuipedia, and you can find it at https://acc.dau.mil/acquipedia.
It’s still in beta, and I expect it to continue to grow.
You probably can’t read it in the little graphic at the top of this post, but the “Featured Article” for today is a timely one for CG-LIMS — “Actual Cost Estimating Method.”
If you follow the “Click here for full article” link, it brings you back to the regular ACC page with a number of cost estimation resources.
In the blurb I read about this, I thought it was going to be a wiki, but right now it just seems like its an index to other content within DAU’s site.
There is an “About” page that describes what ACQuipedia is supposed to be.
Here is the Concept of Ops from that page:
Initially the information within ACQuipedia will be created, updated, and maintained collaboratively by DAU subject matter experts within the five business field areas. In the future community members may be invited to participate in the upkeep and currency of articles. Currently a prototype of the system is being developed and will feature BCEFM and PM domain topics.
This may become a useful resource for acquisition professionals, especially our BFM’s and PM’s. Bookmark it! Use it!

Yet another wiki? Is this different from and in addition to DoDTechipedia? Or did they change the name?
I’m hoping for the latter since we don’t need yet another wiki!

Oh wait, this isn’t a wiki at all. They’re playing on the encyclopedia thing and not the wikipedia thing. I hope they will get bold and hook it into DoDTechipedia somehow.

That’s a good question… from the about page, I wasn’t quite sure whether they were going manage content as a wiki or not in the future. The “About” paragraph was kinda nebulous: “ACQuipedia will function as an online encyclopedia of defense acquisition articles (topics) and will be created and maintained as a collaborative effort of subject matter experts across DAU. Future expansion would include the collaboration of community subject matter experts outside of DAU. Articles within ACQuipedia will be linked to guide users to additional related information.”
I’d hope it would be hooked to DoDTechnipedia… and even better if it was integrated in a way that a person with a CAC can move seamlessly between the two without having to stop and find that I my username isn’t recognized in DoDTechnipedia. 😦 Thanks for the pointer to that resource by the way!
