What is the CG-LIMS Project Blog?

ALMIS Gram sampleI will use the CG-LIMS Project blog just as I did the daily ALMIS Grams back from March 2000 to July 2002 to keep the development team aligned and informed.

The primary audience is the project management staff in CG-9341 and the development team at OSC and ASRC. The secondary audience is the sponsor and stakeholders. I’ll also welcome any customers who will be on the receiving end of what we deliver. There will be many other ways we’ll communicate with our customers, but we’ll welcome them into our tent if they want to get inside our heads or participate in the process by participating in the blog.

It has been my belief for a long time that no system can be any more integrated than the team who builds it.  This forum is just one communication vehicle we’ll use to keep integrated.

I spent just a few minutes setting up this forum, and I hope it has taken you under 20 minutes to get an account and to find it.

I intend to share content that can be consumed in no more than five minutes a day, sometimes with pointers to additional material that may take longer to review and digest.

Three months after the first post, I’ll take a step back and ask myself and the team whether it’s worth our time to continue using it. If it’s not, the forum dies.  I’ll also take a look in three months to see of there is another forum that’s more appropriate to use.  The Coast Guard is migrating to another set of enterprise tools to replace CG Central, and if it includes a replacement for the WordPress application here at Intelink, I’ll gladly move the content to that tool.
